CHILDREN OF THE EUCHARIST PROGRAM – CALL TO ‘EUCHARISTIC REPARATION’
By Prof.
Américo Pablo López Ortiz, International President WAF and Dr Celcio
Dias, Secretary
International Board WAF
BACKGROUND: One year
prior, to Our Lady’s Apparitions at Fatima, i.e. in 1916, God prepared the
three shepherd children by sending them a celestial messenger, the
Angel of Peace, Catechist of Fatima. This Angel taught them prayers,
the sense of reverence before God’s presence, the value of time: make good use
of it, offering of one’s life, the Sanctification of our daily duties, the
supernatural value of suffering and its fruits of peace.
Finally,
the Angel focused on the most profound esteem for the Eucharist, how
to make Reparation to the Most Holy Trinity through the Eucharist and Christ’s
real presence in the Eucharist and the fruit of reparation: the
conversion of poor sinners.
Based on
this, we have the Children of the Eucharist Program. The delegates of
the WAF International General Assembly in 2012, approved unanimously a
resolution to incorporate the Children of the Eucharist Program in our
International Pastoral Work Plan as a major instrument to re-evangelize
families through the Message of Fátima. The objective of this holy hour is to immerse
our souls in God praying for peace on earth, conversion to many sinners,
reparation for the sins of the world, and the triumph of good over evil.
PAST: For the
conversion of the world, and an end to World War I, on July 30, 1916, to the
children gathered in Rome for that momentous day, Pope Benedict XV delivered a
stirring homily in which he said: “...We look for solace in the thought that
the innocence of children will be more
pleasing to God than the penance of adults...we see the power of your
prayers, a power that comes directly from your innocence. Because in God's
presence, the supplication of a pure heart is much more efficacious than the
one of a penitent heart. A power generated by your lack of human strength,
because it is the custom of the Almighty to confound the deluding strength of
this world by accepting only what the world considers as weakness...”
PRESENT: Most of us
are victims of ignorance, seeking happiness where it is not to be found, so
leading us into deeper misfortune and unhappiness. So, we see the modern day
evils: Wars, hatred, ambition, kidnappings, robberies, vengeance, fraud,
murder, immorality, etc. And, in punishment for all these sins, we see
accidents, sickness, disasters, famine, and all types of pain and suffering. Humanity
groans and weeps.
NEED FOR PRAYER: This shows
the great need for prayer, for drawing close to God in prayer. It is by prayer
that we secure forgiveness for own sins, the grace to resist the temptations of
the world, the devil and the flesh. We are very weak, without this grace we
could never win through. Hence, Jesus urged His apostles, which is also for us:
“Watch and pray that you may not enter in temptation; the spirit indeed is
willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mt. 26, 41). It is for this reason that the
Message of Fatima renews the Lord’s words “Pray, pray very much!”
PRISONER OF LOVE:
The secret of happiness, on earth and in Heaven is in love! God loves us and
for love of us, He is waiting for us in the Holy Eucharist. He remains a prisoner of love in the Tabernacle and
Monstrance, waiting for
our humble return of love. And God is within us, since we are temples of the
adorable trinity: “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit
dwells in you?” (1 Cor 3,16) Thus to adore God is a duty and a commandment
imposed on us by God out of love, so that He can shower his blessings on us.
This is clear from the following episode: when Moses was leading the Israelites
to the Promised Land, they all halted on the slopes of Mount Sinai. God then
told Moses to go up to the top of the mountain in order to receive the Tables
of the Law from the hands of God Himself. While Moses there in the Presence of
God, the people fashioned a golden calf and worshipped it. God was very angry
on account of this sin of the people and told Moses that He would destroy that
idolatrous people: ‘And Moses made haste to bow his head towards the earth, and
worshipped. And he said: “If now I have favour in thy sight, O Lord, let the
Lord, I pray thee, go in the midst of us, although it is a stiff necked people;
and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take for thy inheritance”’ (Ex 34,
8-9). Thus, by prostrating himself in adoration before God, Moses secured
pardon for the people and a renewed alliance with God.
ADORE THE TRUE GOD: The reason
for this commandment: ‘You shall adore the true God and Him alone’ is that He
is the eternal, true and living God, worthy of being adored. When we observe
this commandment, we draw closer to God. He is the only God capable of
accepting our Adoration and rewarding with Mercy, Forgiveness and Grace. The Living Jesus is present in the Eucharist.
Living Jesus because He rose from the dead by His divine power never to die
again, and He remains forever with the Father and the Holy Spirit. In truth,
the Son of God has power over death and life (Jn 10, 7-18).
Offered on our
altars, enclosed within our tabernacles, our Saviour continues of offer Himself
to the Father as a victim for the remission of the sins of all human beings, in
the hope that many of us will wish to be united to Him, to become one with Him
by sharing in the same sacrifice, so that with Him we can offer ourselves to
the Father as victim souls, in
Himself but also in the members of His Mystical Body which is the Church. This
is the Call of the Message of Fatima.
HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS: WAF leaders must conduct this initially and invite
the Secretary of the Diocesan
Board of Education, Director of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre, Director of
the Diocesan Youth Centre, local Bishop, etc. using the attached liturgy. Then,
this can be worked out in a widespread and better way.
MESSAGE FOR ALL: One of the essential
elements of the Fatima Message is the call to Eucharistic Reparation (repair
damage done due to sin at Holy Mass and such Adorations).
Firstly, the Guardian Angel of Peace of Portugal, inculcated in the
hearts of the three little children REVERENCE (worship in deep respect) towards
the Majesty of God, His presence and contemplation (think deeply from the
heart) in PRAYER.
Secondly, the Angel of Fatima prepared them through PENANCE (self
punishment for sin) , to open their hearts to God’s grace, learning to hate sin
and seek God’s kingdom.
Thirdly, the children received Holy Communion in a mystical
experience, under the two species. Their Holy Communion granted from heaven was
a special grace that introduced them into God himself. Later, “they were
immersed in the mystery of God” by the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary that communicated them “a light that was God himself”. The Holy Trinity
revealed to the three little children and their lives were transformed forever.
St Francisco at the
age of nine was called to a vocation of contemplative prayer and reparation
“to console God’, to cure the wounds caused by sins to the Mystical Body of
Christ, to repair the damages caused by sins and their terrible consequences in
the spiritual life of the Church. By this vocation, Francisco preferred first
to console “Hidden Jesus” before the tabernacle and then, second, to convert
poor sinners.
MESSAGE FOR CHILDREN: St Francisco focused
on the sorrow and grief of the Blessed Mother, Mary, Her opened heart and the
solitude and melancholy of the Divine Presence in the Eucharist, offering his
life, meditative prayer, penance, good deeds, charity and suffering, as a
reparative victim, an “alter Christus” (another Christ), a young oblation to
the Eternal Father.
St. Francisco set the example as model of the Eucharistic
Reparation requested by Our Lady of Fatima when She offered the Great Promise
of her Immaculate Heart through the Communion of Reparation of the Five First
Consecutive Saturdays, a promise of salvation for devoted souls, a promise of
unity and strength for the Universal Church against inner dissentions, a
promise for world peace and renewal of faith.
Please follow the
example of Blessed Francisco, the child enamoured of the Blessed Sacrament,
“Hidden Jesus”, who is God-the
Supreme Being Really
Present in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity: the best possible friend one
could have. Please visit your Parish tabernacle as often as possible to
“dialogue” with Jesus in the Eucharist, as He will touch their hearts with pure
inspirations and consolations out of His great love for them. Bring your
families, friends, relatives and neighbours to share in the Divine
Presence.
MESSAGE FOR TEACHERS / PARENTS / HEADS OF INSTITUTIONS: Our Lady of Fatima revealed in Her
Apparitions the great role of
children in our times in the Divine Plan for the salvation of many souls. When
children come together to pray, as the three little shepherds of Fatima did, in
the first prayer cell of the world, great things happen. The formidable
obstacles created by evilness, hatred and violence crumble as they are
confronted with the pure, simple faith of children in God's love, grace and
mercy.
Through the many
Adorations of Children and Youth, at the imitation of Blessed Francisco Marto,
many graces from heaven will be granted to overcome the present moral and
spiritual crisis. Through the Eucharistic Reparation the world will be renewed
and the Church will experience an outburst of New Evangelization to bring many
souls to Jesus Christ. We only need to have faith and we will experience the
major spiritual renewal from the Eucharist.
Thank you very much
for this initiative and CONTINUE as possible in your Parish/ School/ Community/
Youth/ Family/ Catechism Classes, a group of young adorers of the Blessed
Sacrament and you will share the great spirituality of the Message of Fatima,
capable of transforming the lives of those searching for God.
Let us follow this
example of St Francisco of consoling “Hidden Jesus” in the Blessed Sacrament as
often as possible to be happy and peaceful by overcoming the evils of our
times, by the power of the Holy Spirit!
“…I am deeply grateful for the many good efforts of
the World Apostolate of Fatima and, in particular, I think of the many graces
that come to so many young people through the Children’s Program. It is my hope and my prayer that each of the children who participate in
this Holy Hour will be ambassadors of Jesus Christ to other young people and to
the world…” [Pope Emeritus
Benedict XVI , February 8th ~ 2007].
“…Let us entrust the children of the world with those things that worry
us most and we shall receive the “consolation of the incomparable victory of
their precious prayers!” (Pope Benedict XV, at an audience to children, in
July 1916). And may their angels intercede for us all and
lead us to the Bosom of the Holy Trinity!” [Most
Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman].

For spiritual and Faith
Formation of the Catholic Students, Teachers and Youth once OR twice a year
(other groups also welcome, even indivudial)
Before
Exposition (Introduction):
We are here to pray, adore, make reparation, raise our petitions and thank our
Redeemer Jesus, who is God-the Supreme
Being Really Present here in
Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, for the conversion of poor sinners and for PEACE
and LIFE.
For the conversion
of the world, and an end to World War I, on July 30, 1916, to the children
gathered in Rome, Pope Benedict XV delivered a stirring homily in which he
said: “...We look for solace in the thought that the innocence of children will be more pleasing to God than the penance of

your innocence.
Because in God's presence, the supplication of a pure heart is much more efficacious than the one of a
penitent heart. A power generated by your lack of human strength, because
it is the custom of the Almighty to confound the deluding strength of this
world by accepting only what the world considers as weakness...”
The Main celebrant now proceeds to expose the Most Blessed Sacrament
Moderator: Please kneel:
In the name of The Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Hymn: O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine all Praise and all
thanks giving be every moment Thine.
We
shall now recite the Eucharist Prayer, (please
repeat): “O Most Holy Trinity/ I adore Thee! /
My God, my God, I love Thee/ in the Most Blessed Sacrament!” (3
times)
We will now recite the Reparation and Pardon prayer FOR THE CONVERSION OF POOR
SINNERS:
(Please repeat): “Most Holy Trinity,/ Father, Son/ and the Holy Spirit,/ I
adore Thee profoundly/ and offer Thee/ the Most Precious Body,/ Blood, Soul/ and
Divinity/ of Jesus Christ/ present in all the tabernacles/ of the world,/ in
reparation/ for the outrages,/ sacrileges/ and the indifferences/ by which He
is offended./ And through the infinite merits/ of His Most Sacred Heart,/ and
the Immaculate Heart of Mary,/ I beg of Thee/ the conversion of poor sinners” (once)
(Please repeat): “My God, I believe,/ I adore, I hope/ and I love Thee…
I ask pardon of Thee/ for
those who do not believe,/ do not adore, /do not hope/ and do not love Thee” (3
times)
“Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy on us and on
the Whole World” (3 times)
O Most Holy Trinity, please give us the grace to say often this SACRIFICE
PRAYER daily when we make some sacrifice (please repeat): O Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of
sinners, and in reparation, for the sins committed, against the Immaculate
Heart of Mary.
(You may sit): We must make every effort
to live in peace with everyone and to be holy, without holiness, no one will
see the Lord (Hebrew 12:14)
We
will now do Pope Francis’ Prayer for Peace:
Lord God
of peace, hear our prayer!
We have
tried so many times and over so many years to resolve our conflicts by our own
powers. How many moments of hostility and darkness have we experienced; how many
lives have been shattered; how many hopes have been buried… But our efforts
have been in vain.
Now,
Lord, come to our aid! Grant us peace, teach us peace; guide our steps in the
way of peace. Open our eyes and our hearts, and give us the courage to say:
"Never again war!"; "With war everything is lost". Instil
in our hearts the courage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.
Lord,
God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us and you call
us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be
instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our
brother or sister. Make us sensitive to the plea of our citizens who entreat us
to turn our hostilities into implements of peace, our trepidation into confident
trust, and our quarreling into forgiveness.
Keep
alive within us the flame of hope, so that with patience and perseverance we
may opt for dialogue and reconciliation. In this way may peace triumph at last,
and may the words "division", "hatred" and "hostility"
be banished from the heart of every man and woman. Lord, defuse the violence of
our tongues and our hands. Renew our hearts and minds, so that the word which
always brings us together will be "brother", and our way of life will
always be that of: Shalom, Peace, Salaam! Amen.
HYMN: Make me a channel of your peace
Where
there is hatred let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.
Make me a
channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness ever joy.
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness ever joy.
Oh,
master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a
channel of your peace
It isn't pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men let we receive
And in dying that we're born to turn around.
It isn't pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men let we receive
And in dying that we're born to turn around.
Oh,
master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a
channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness ever joy.
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness ever joy.

happy and peaceful by overcoming the evils of our times, by the power of the
Holy Spirit! We shall receive the “consolation of their incomparable victory of
their precious prayers!”
JESUS in the Gospel has a
special predilection for the little ones. So has Mary, His Mother, and She has
consistently shown this in the course of history. Jesus and Mary seem to
entrust to children the problems of the humankind and of the Church.
