Indulgence

🙏🏼 🕯️*THE TE DEUM for 31 Dec* (better late than never)  🕯️

(Thanking God for the blessings received in Year 2025. The Church grants a *Partial Indulgence* to any faithful who recite this Te Deum in Thanksgiving.

TE DEUM

You are God: we praise You;
You are God: we acclaim You;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships You.
To You all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of Your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise You.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise You.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise You.
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims You:
Father, of majesty unbounded,
Your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
And the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the king of glory,
The eternal Son of the Father.
When You became man to set us free
You did not spurn the Virgin’s womb.
You overcame the sting of death,
And opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that You will come, and be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help Your people,
Bought with the price of Your own blood,
And bring us with Your saints
To glory everlasting.

Save Your people, Lord, and bless Your inheritance.
Govern and uphold them now and always.
Day by day we bless You.
We praise Your name forever.
Keep us today, Lord, from all sin.
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
Lord, show us Your love and mercy;
For we put our trust in You.
In You, Lord, is our hope:
And we shall never hope in vain.
Amen. 🙏🏼💞🙏🏼

*The Church grants a plenary indulgence if below is recited on Jan 1st or on the feast of Pentecost.*

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Thy rest;
come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

O comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known;
Thou, finger of God's hand we own;
Thou, promise of the Father, Thou
Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts overflow with love;
with patience firm and virtue high
the weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
the Father and the Son to know;
and Thee, through endless times confessed,
of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
with Thou, O Holy Comforter,
henceforth by all in earth and heaven.
Amen.

Pope Francis Grants Fatima Centennial Plenary Indulgence

(Indulgence is a remission i.e. cancellation before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven.

We can help ourselves and our departed to lessen serving Divine Justice in Purgatory.)

In order to celebrate with dignity the centennial of the Apparitions of Fatima, by mandate of Pope Francis, a Jubilee Year is granted, with the inherent plenary indulgence, from the 27th of November 2016 till the 26th of November 2017.

The plenary indulgence of the jubilee is granted:

a) To the faithful who visit the Sanctuary of Fatima on pilgrimage and devotedly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary, pray the ‘Our Father’, recite the symbol of the faith (Creed) and invoke Our Lady of Fatima;

b) To the pious faithful who visit with devotion any image of Our Lady of Fatima, solemnly displayed to public veneration in any temple, oratory or adequate place, on the anniversary days of the apparitions (the 13th of each month, from May to October 2017), and who devotedly participate there in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary, pray the ‘Our Father’, recite the symbol of the faith (Creed) and invoke Our Lady of Fatima;

c) To the faithful who, due to their age, illness or another serious cause, are hindered of moving, if repented of all their sins and with the firm intention to carry out, as soon as it will be possible to them, the three conditions indicated below, in front of a small image of Our Lady of Fatima, on the days of the apparitions, joining spiritually the jubilee celebrations, offering with confidence to the merciful God through Mary their prayers and pains, or the sacrifices of their own life.

In order to obtain plenary indulgences, the faithful who are truly repentant and filled with charity must fulfil the following ritual conditions: sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.

NOTE:

On June 13, 1912, Saint Pius X granted new indulgences to practices which almost exactly foreshadow the requests of Pontevedra:

"To promote the piety of the Faithful towards Immaculate Mary, Mother of God, and to make Reparation for the outrages done to Her Holy Name and Her privileges by impious men, Saint Pius X granted, for the first Saturday of each month, a plenary indulgence, applicable to the Souls in Purgatory.

Conditions: Confession, Communion, prayers for the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff and pious practices in the spirit of Reparation in honor of the Immaculate Virgin."

MOST HOLY FATHER

            Peter Machado, Bishop of Belgaum, along with the clergy of the Cathedral, Church, under the title of Our Lady of the Family Rosary of Fatima, with filial devotion towards Your Holiness, earnestly request for a plenary Indulgence for the faithful who, moved by genuine repentance and charity, having purified themselves with the sacrament of Confession and received the Most Holy Eucharist, and offered prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father, from the coming 13th of December till 13th of October 2017, attend the sacred function in the Cathedral Church of Belgaum, in order to worthily join the centenary celebration (13th May to 13 October 2017) at Cove de Iria where three little shepherd children – Lucy, Francis and Jacinta – were blessed with the singular and unexpected favour of seeing with their own eyes the Virgin Mary, who invited them in a motherly fashion to pray for the conversion of sinners; and to make penance for the salvation of souls.

            And God …

5th December 2016

            THE APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARY, by order of the Holy Father, Francis, willingly grants the Marian Year and the Plenary Indulgence attached to it, to the faithful, who on duty fulfilling the conditions mentioned above, will attend the celebration before the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima exposed for public veneration, offer prayers for a reasonable space of time for the conversion of sinners, for vocations for priesthood and religious life, and for the defense of the institution of family life, concluding with the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles’ Creed and the invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima.

                        Those faithful who due to old age, illness or other serous reason, are impeded from doing so, can similarly obtain the plenary Indulgence if after repenting of all their sins, with the intention of fulfilling as early as possible the usual conditions, before some small statue of our Lady of Fatima, unite themselves with those that attend the Jubilee function or pilgrimage, through their prayers and sufferings, or the hardships of their life, offered trustingly to the merciful God through Mary.

            Hence to make obtaining Divine Mercy, through the forgiving power of the Church, less difficult for pastoral charity, this Penitentiary earnestly asks that both the Diocesan penitentiary and the clergy of the Cathedral Church be generously available for the celebration of the sacrament of Penance and in the ministry of administering Holy Communion to the sick.

            `This holds good for the present Jubilee Year, notwithstanding anything to the contrary.
