of us, including 5 from the National team and Bishop Peter Machado travelled
from Calcutta by train very early. As we reached, we were informed that Bishop Joseph
Suren Gomes, sdb is going out for an important Program.
So along with Bishop Peter few of us went to meet him. He was delighted to meet us and requested Fr Joseph Biswas to be the WAF Spiritual Director for Krishnagar. He was reluctant at this time due to other responsibilities. Late Sr Elisa, sccg was remembered for being a protagonist for the Fatima Message.
The venue was the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Krishnagar. After breakfast, the Inaugural function followed in the Hall. Mr Robin Baidya explained to the locals and then announced on welcoming Our Lady in her statue by crowning and also garlanding by Bishop Peter Machado, Bishop of Belgaum and Ecclesiastical Advisor of World Apostolate of Fatima (India). Statues sre being exported from here.
Suddenly Bishop Suren Gomes and Vicar General Rev. Fr Badal Ghosh appeared who then garlanded her followed by Rev. Fr. M.V. Sunny (National Executive Board Chairman – WAF), Dr. Celcio Xavier Dias (National Vice-Chairman & International Secretary – WAF) and Fr John Charuvila (National Executive Board member from Bathery, Kerala)
Then, the dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets and flowers. Bishop Suren Gomes and Bishop Peter Machado briefly spoke. Bishop Peter challenged to change the name to Fatimanagar through Evangelization. Fr Badal mentioned that he would follow up with priests to promote this widely in the Diocese.
Fr. M. V. Sunny gave a power point presentation on the Message of Fatima and Apparition narratives. Dr. Celcio Dias then gave a presentation on the “Forgotten Message” i.e First Saturdays, Consecration and how to celebrate the Centenary. At the Interaction session, Fr Joseph Biswas, fully charged conducted smooth elections to Diocesan Office bearers and pledged to take forward the WAF. Suddenly, a cake appeared for Fr John Charuvila to cut since it was his Birthday.
Then followed a concelebrated High
Mass after midday by Bishop Peter and other priests. The choir was well
organised by youth. After Mass lunch was arranged in the hall. 50 attended
including 6 Priests and 5 National
Team members. The Diocesan
Adoration Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were present.
